British Channel Islands tide times

The Channel Islands have some of the largest tidal ranges in the world — up to 12 metres in Jersey at spring tides. Use this tool to plan beach visits and causeway crossings safely.

ℹ️
Note on data accuracy: This tool shows example tide patterns to illustrate the typical tidal rhythm of each island. For real-time official tide times, always cross-reference with: gov.je tides (Jersey) or gov.gg tides (Guernsey).
Live API integration (WorldTides.info or UK Admiralty Easytide) is planned for V2.

Practical notes for today's tides

Tide safety in the Channel Islands

  • Spring tides (around new and full moon) can be 2–4 metres higher than neap tides. Always check the predicted height, not just the time.
  • The tide comes in very fast on flat beaches like St Ouen's Bay (Jersey) and Vazon Bay (Guernsey). Never walk far out without checking tide times first.
  • Causeway crossings (Lihou Island, Elizabeth Castle) can be cut off in 15–20 minutes. Allow plenty of time.
  • Sark's La Coupée is always passable but the surrounding beaches are highly tidal — check before scrambling down to the shore.
